The PFX Tour begins its fourth season in 2009. And the PFX Tour started
with a bang! Our first tour stop in McKinney, Texas at Craig Ranch
Ballfields featured 110 youth teams, 10U, 12U 14U, 16U and 18U in the
amateur division of the tour stop which is the largest amateur
participation to date! Also fans experienced amazing rookie PFX pro
athletes; like Taryne Mowatt from the University of Arizona, Desiree
Williams from the University of Texas and Lindsey Schutzler from Univ. of
Tennessee, along with Olympians Pros; Andrea Duran, Lauren Lappin and Lisa
Fernandez.
The PFX Professional athletes played in front of 9,000 + fans
over the course of the tour stop with an amazing Opening Ceremonies
presenting the amateur teams and pro athletes together on the stadium
field. The Friday night pro game provided alot of excitement highlighted
by Lindsey Schutzler stellar offensive performance going 3-for-3.
Defensively, catcher; Brooke LeSage received the Outstanding Defensive
Play Honors throwing out Mia Longfellow at second base as she attempted
steal to get into scoring position. That key out by LeSage stopped a team
rally and help her team hold on to the victory. Saturday's Pro game
displayed offensive power with back-to-back home runs by Andrea Duran and
Lisa Fernandez. Andrea Duran's two-run home run blast ended up being the
game winning hit. With the bases now cleared, Lisa Fernandez stepped up
to the plate and exploded with a line-drive home run over the left field
fence to add a little security for her team.
On the mound, the fans enjoyed brilliant pitching performances by Meagan
Denny, Dana Sorensen and newcomer; National Champion and ESPY Award
Winner; Taryne Mowatt.
The Pro-Am Skill Challenges of Pitching and
Hitting incorporated within the pro games was exciting, hysterical and
dramatic all-in-one. The amateur athletes selected to get on the field
with their favorite pro had the time of their lives and memories that will
last a lifetime. :) The Meet & Greet the Pros Event was small and
intimate as the young athletes got the chance to ask many pros questions
and get photo opportunities. Also, the official autograph session given by
the Pros provided additional moments for young fans to meet the pros and
take home a keepsake.
The PFX Tour is gearing up for the next tour stop in Kent, Washington. We
look forward to bringing the PFX Tour to the state of Washington for the
first time! See you there. Dot
